FRIED HATS - Colombia Luis Aníbal Calderón

A fantastic coffee from Luis Aníbal Calderón himself, a man who for a decade has fought against the C-price (the C-price is the global reference price for Arabica coffee, determined by trading coffee futures on the New York Stock Exchange – not by the producers' actual costs). Back in 2011, Luis had to face the reality that there was a real possibility of losing his new farm, but he chose instead to go all in. He planted 5,000 Gesha trees. This was, of course, not an immediate solution, but with careful tending and care, it produced a fantastic first harvest. A vision quickly took shape, and the following year he knew what the path forward should be – the entire farm was to grow exotic coffee varieties. Now, a decade after that decision, Luis is a true master of his craft, growing and producing extraordinary coffee.
